A few videos to help explain why you like Doctor Who (and some other cool stuff)

I am in one of those restless moods after spending nights sick where I want to see something new, but also something familiar. Since my concentration is not at it's best, I am back to sifting through videos.

Have you ever had the moment where someone who has never seen Doctor Who asks you why you like the show so much? Your mind races through all the moments and you begin to chuckle, cringe, cry..ok well, not cry on the spot. That would be a tad weird.

Every time you open your mouth to explain you realize what you are about to say. It's utterly strange, ridiculous or missing a whole lot of context. You close your mouth and the person is just staring at your ineptness. You think you got it now. Nope, no that still sounds crazy. Now you feel at a loss, because it's not really one word or sentiment. It's not one thing. There's just so much and it's so hard to pinpoint.

As utterly stupid as this sounds, it is a bit like asking Stephen Hawking to explain the entire universe in a word. He could do it. He's brilliant. I still think it would be hard for him with all his knowledge to find one word to sum up all of its wonders. That's how Whovians often feel. This fictional universe is so vast and diverse and yet how do you find a word or sentence to sum it all up?

I think these videos do a pretty good up of attempting to answer that question. For those of you who think beyond the reboot, the fourth video is probably one of the best examples of why we do love the show so much. Now obviously, they are also longer than a word or sentence, but I think they do express what we feel without the oddness attached to it. It simply makes sense.

INTERVIEW WITH MATT SMITH
The one thing I have always found somewhat peculiar is why I seem to think Matt is much broader and stronger when he's out of his costume. I tend to push it aside as my strange sense of perception. In this interview, Matt discusses his work day amongst other interesting things.

EASTER EGGS IN DAY OF THE DOCTOR

I could write a long post (and perhaps I will at a later date) on the number of self references in The Day of the Doctor, but these two videos do a great job with the highlights.
