Matt Smith rises onto the stage wearing an aqua mask and white underwear, but it is his physique that has caught critics attention. No one can stop talking about Matt's ripped hard body and how buff he is. If they hated the show, Matt's body seems to be the redeemable aspect of the show.
Most critics gave well written reviews of American Psycho: The Musical, but overall were not pleased with Duncan Sheik or Rupert Goold. The general consensus is the adaption and musical numbers are a mess, but Matt's performance deserves praise. There is even a repeated backhanded compliment about his weak singing voice works well for the character.
